Ben comes from the most Godless city in England [Brighton] and started writing music while studying his degree in theology in 2010.
After getting enough material together, he decided to start a band.
In 2013, while on a night out in Durham (during his MA) he found a group of musics willing to play his music for the fun of it.
'Red Night Fields' (RNF) was created and the band played unlikely shows in college bars and in the local area, as they were often mistaken for being a 'cool indie band'.
This misconception quickly vanished when they began playing.
After a few more shows, and when the band finished their studies, they parted ways, and Ben continued RNF as a solo project.
In 2015 Ben released the first EP 'Out The Zoo' as RNF, but due to confusion over the name, and difficulty sourcing a band to take over from the original members, Ben decided to change to a full solo artist - Ben Mc.
His music is focused around various topics of Ben's academic writing. The EP creates conceptual bridges between a range of stories and reflections - the personal, mythical, political, and theological.
People still think he plays indie folk.
